Increased vegetable and carotenoids can decrease the risk of hip fractures in elderly men with low BMI. Apparently men with low BMI are at higher risk of hip fractures as they age.
Increase carotenoids and vegetables did not reduce the risk in elderly women regardless of BMI or for men with higher BMI.
