Research to be presented at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting links surgical menopause to memory decline.
Apparently the early induced menopause from hysterectomies etc. affects memory and overall thinking abilities. It also showed an association with Alzheimer plaques.
There is some suggestion that hormone replacement therapies offered some protective effect for this cognitive decline
