This article explains that the amount of amyloid deposits can predict the degree of episodic memory impairment in people and therefore the best predictor of Alzheimer’s disease.
They also suggested the beta-amyloid could have a direct effect on memory storage and retrieval.
Previous studies thought hippocampal volume was correlated also, but this was not found in the current study.
