Inflammation is not only a killer, but a huge aging accelerator. Inflammation underlies many diseases, like autoimmune diseases, some cancers, cardiovascular disease as well as type 2 diabetes and even Alzheimer’s.
This small New Zealand study had 30 volunteers with poor diets follow a modified Mediterranean style diet (gluten free foods and salmon were included)
After just 6 weeks, their blood tests showed inflammation markers were significantly reduced. This is really encouraging.
The diet included increased
- fish including salmon once per week
- vegetables
- unrefined cereals
- good fats like olive oil and avocado
They were asked to cut out refined and processed foods.
The study was meant to be a pilot for a larger study, but was found to be statistically significant on its own.
