Caloric restriction has a protective effect on chromosomes

40% calorie reduction from birth seems pretty extreme to me to get a life extension effect.

A study by the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre found this sustained food reduction IN MICE translated to

  • increase telomere lengthening
  • lowered incidence of cancer
  • reduction of age related diseases
  • lower rates of chromosome damage

We have yet to find out if this kind of calorie restriction would have the same effect on humans (or whether it would just feel like we were living longer)
